History of our museum
The history of the creation and development of the museum "History of the development of the Arctic" named after O.Yu. Schmidt at MBOU Murmansk Academic Lyceum.
From April 24, 1971, at school No. lyceum) of the city of Murmansk, there is a museum "History of the development of the Arctic". The beginning of its creation dates back to the time when the whole country stood on a labor watch in honor of the centenary of the birth of V.I. Lenin. It was decided in honor of this date to create a museum of the Arctic at the school. The initiators of the creation were the director of the school Anatoly Alexandrovich Alov and the head teacher of the school, Honored Teacher of the RSFSR Tamara Pavlovna Sokolova. This decision was supported by the party organization, the Komsomol committee, the council of the pioneer squad.
The students started their search. Through the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic in Leningrad, the Arkhangelsk and Odessa Museums of Local Lore, they received the addresses of famous polar explorers and their relatives. Correspondence began, materials began to come to the school: books, photographs, documents from the Institute of Physics of the Earth, the Institute of the Arctic and Antarctic, from polar explorers from the North Pole stations - 16, 18, 19, from the museums of Taimyr, Nakhodka, Providence Bay. Letters came from participants in the Chelyuskin epic, meteorologists Olga Nikolaevna Komova and her husband Nikolai Nikolaevich, from hydrograph Pyotr Konstantinovich Khmyznikov, from senior mechanic Alexander Erlandovich Pogosov and others; from close and dear polar explorers: Pelageya Ivanovna Voronina, Nelli Viktorovna Sorokina, Elena Vladimirovna Laktionova, Ksenia Vsevolodovna Gakkel, Anna Grigorievna Nikolaeva; from the nephew of the captain of the Krasin icebreaker Mikhail Yakovlevich Sorokin; from Sofia Vladimirovna Kozlovskaya, researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Earth, biographer O.Yu.Shmidt.
The wife of the famous polar explorer, outstanding scientist Otto Yulievich Schmidt, Irina Vladimirovna Schmidt, Nikolaeva Anna Grigorievna, greatly assisted in the creation of the museum.
The generation that created the museum visited Irina Vladimirovna in Moscow in 1970 and 1971 during the winter holidays. The guys were visiting the famous polar pilot Vladimir Grigoryevich Chukhnovsky; another group of guys visited the Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic in Leningrad, took advantage of the advice on organizing museum expositions. For a year, i.e. by April 24, 1971, the guys already had enough material to open the museum.
On April 24, 1971, the Museum "History of the Exploration of the Arctic" was solemnly opened at school No. 46. Many honored guests were present at the opening: the captain of the Gizhiga diesel-electric ship Andrey _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf581d_05-7 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ Anatolyevich Nazaryev, polar explorers Viktor Alekseevich Tkachev, Alexander Ivanovich Shlyachkov; Anatoly Karlovich Tsintin - senior assistant to the captain of the icebreaker "Krasin", employees of the Hydrometeorological Center, director of the Observatory Vladimir Trofimovich Zhevnovaty, captains of the icebreaker "Murmansk", the diesel-electric ship "Ob", the nuclear icebreaker "Lenin" and many others.
On that solemn day, the museum received congratulatory telegrams from the captains of the icebreakers on the voyage, as well as from polar explorers from Arkhangelsk, Sevastopol, Moscow and Leningrad, Providence Bay, Nakhodka.
The expositions featured authentic historical materials. At the same time, the museum was replenished with new valuable exhibits - pyronaft side lights and the ship's state flag of the diesel-electric ship "Ob" and the flag of the drifting station "North Pole-19". Polar explorers "SP-18" donated radiosondes. The captain of the Gizhiga presented the museum with a unique book with a dedicatory inscription and an autograph [Wagner N. Invertebrates of the White Sea. Zoological research carried out on the shores of the Solovetsky Bay in the summer months of 1876, 1877, 1879 and 1882. - Volume I. - St. Petersburg: M.M. Stasyulevich, 1885. - 218 p. - A.G.]. During the Second International Geophysical Year, this book was located at the polar station of Cape Peschany of the Bolshevik Island, where at that time Ivan Dmitrievich Papanin was the head. Due to the non-core profile, this book-atlas was transferred from station to station until 1967, in 1967 it was taken out by Captain A.A. Nazaryev, and now, since 1971, it has been an exhibit of the Museum "History of the Exploration of the Arctic" in Lyceum No. 4.
